Goals of the training
Participants will develop a solid foundation in sonic drilling—learning how the technology works, its advantages over conventional methods, and its implementation across a range of drilling techniques such as diamond coring, RC drilling, down-the-hole hammer, and mud rotary.
A guided rig walk-around introduces the features and functions of the sonic rig, highlighting its versatility and engineering.
Programme Modules
The course focuses on real-world applications from a managerial perspective. Dedicated modules cover Environmental, Geotechnical, Mineral Exploration, and Geo-Construction sectors, explaining how to evaluate and apply sonic solutions in various project contexts. Each module includes insights into project planning, tooling selection, and best practices to optimize performance and outcomes.
Hands-on field demonstrations provide managers with a practical understanding of key processes including sampling, installation, and destructive drilling. This knowledge enables informed decision-making when overseeing field operations or evaluating project requirements.
Additionally, the course addresses critical managerial topics such as selling sonic solutions, risk assessment, health and safety, and delivering complete project outcomes. Modules on equipment and tooling management explain how to select, use, and maintain the right tools for the job.
Finally, participants learn how to enhance productivity through preventative maintenance, project planning, effective use of Eijkelkamp Service Assistance (ESA), and the management of critical spare parts and training.
After the Training
By the end of the Sonic for Managers course, attendees will be equipped with the knowledge to lead teams, make strategic decisions, and confidently manage sonic drilling operations and business development efforts.
