This course is to take participants from a basic, or even very basic, knowledge of CPT to a deeper understanding allowing them to use cone penetration tests and the data with confidence, as well as to be able to supervise CPT projects.
Even experienced CPT professionals can learn a lot from this course, particularly with regards to data quality and operational error. Its aim is to help participants understand CPT data, know what the data means and how to process it, and knowing when you have good quality data.
This course doesn’t teach how to interpret the data so that it can be used in building processes, e.g. foundation design.
The course will be largely in the classroom, but will also include a demonstration of a CPT as well as hands-on explanation of the CPT system elements.

After the training
After attending this course, participants should have a detailed understanding of the cone penetration test and the many elements in equipment selection, test procedure and data processing that contribute to the quality and applicability of CPT data for various applications. This will allow participants to critically assess data quality and in the case of poor data quality assess the reasons why.
The participants should also have a good understanding of the dissipation test, as well as a basic understanding of supplementary techniques such as Seismic CPT.
