The Aardvark permeameter is a fully automated constant-head borehole permeameter to measure soil hydraulic conductivity (Ksat) and other related parameters like sorptivity and percolation in the field. The set is easy to install and can be used to a depth of 15 metres.
The Aardvark permeameter PC-tablet set is an automatic, easy-to-use instrument to quickly and accurately measure in-situ saturated water flow. Accurate evaluation of soil hydraulic conductivity and matrix flux potential can be made in almost all types of soils. The set contains the complete Aardvark PC tablet system, including required augers in carrying bag.
The permeameter can be used with a laptop/tablet, so there is no need to manually record data or manually perform the calculations. It is also possible to view the real-time graph of soil-water flux rate during the measurement period. Data can be logged easily.
This kit is a perfect option for laboratory experiments, where it can easily be connected to a personal computer. It can also be used in the field using a portable laptop computer. This model can even be used to take manual readings (when no PC is available). Using the digital scale significantly adds to the accuracy of readings. The measurement method is called Borehole Constant-head Method, or Constant-head Methods for short.
